Strange Sickness

For the past two days, I’ve been sick. It was really strange to wake up on Thursday morning with a horrible stomach ache and headache. I’m not sure what caused this to happen to me, but I would guess it was some type of food poisoning. I can’t remember the last time that I was sick and because this sickness was so sudden, I am led to believe that it must have been food poisoning. I had been drinking raw goats milk on a daily basis recently and on Wednesday morning, I decided to add a raw egg into my smoothie. Im thinking that my sickness must have been attributed to a bad egg or bad goats milk, so I’ve decided to lay off of the animal products for a little while. On Friday, my appetite wasn’t back to the point where just thinking about smoothies and salads makes me drool, so I decided to go for some bread. This turned out to be a very bad decision considering I hadn’t eaten bread for more than a month, so after eating a few rolls, I had incredibly bad gas and bloating. (So eating bread and baked good is definitely not something that I plan to do more of in the future.) I would venture to guess that this happened to me because of a gluten sensitivity. I think a very good way to test for an allergy or sensitivity to something (ie lactose or gluten) is to not eat the food item in question for a week or two and then try eating it again. If you have an adverse reaction when eating the food again, you very well could have an allergy that could have been masked from years of eating that food product. Alot of people live with conditions like this and don’t even know it. After eating a meal, they may become bloated or develop heartburn and just think that it is a normal part of eating instead of really getting to the root of the problem. It’s also probably not a good idea to eat something that you haven’t eaten for a month after being sick for a day or two, when your body is already functioning below normal. I won’t make that mistake again.
